A Decade of Harvest Success—Trusted by Leading Cannabis Operators Worldwide

Harborside Inc. Company Profile

Harborside Inc. is one of California’s pioneering cannabis companies, founded in 2006 by industry veterans Steve DeAngelo and Dress Wedding. A vertically integrated operator, Harborside holds retail, distribution, cultivation (including nursery) and manufacturing licenses across California and operates dispensaries in Northern and Southern California (and one location in Oregon). Its operations include the large Harborside Farms greenhouse in Monterey County, and the company serves a broad customer base with an established retail footprint.

Mission & Positioning

Harborside positions itself as an industry leader focused on safe, legal access to high-quality cannabis products while advancing social equity and normalizing adult-use cannabis. The company emphasizes trustworthy retail experiences, transparent product sourcing, and community engagement. Harborside’s brand strategy balances premium product lines with broad consumer accessibility, aiming to be both a trusted medical supplier and a mainstream adult-use retailer.

Operations & Facility

Harborside operates an integrated, seed-to-sale infrastructure that allows the company to maintain quality, compliance, and consistency across all stages of production. Its cultivation and manufacturing operations are designed for scale, efficiency, and regulatory adherence, supporting both internal retail demand and wholesale distribution. Advanced greenhouse cultivation, processing, and distribution systems enable Harborside to respond quickly to market demand while maintaining product integrity.

  • Retail footprint: Approximately a dozen dispensaries across California plus one in Oregon, offering in-store and often online ordering and fulfillment.

  • Cultivation & production: Major cultivation and manufacturing capabilities anchored by Harborside Farms, a 47-acre greenhouse in Monterey County designed to scale flower production and support processing.

  • Vertical integration: End-to-end control over seed-to-shelf processes — nursery, cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, packaging, distribution and retail — to ensure quality, traceability and regulatory compliance.

  • Scale & infrastructure: Infrastructure built to support large wholesale distribution to dispensaries and direct retail sales across multiple jurisdictions.

Products & Market

Harborside offers a diversified portfolio of cannabis products that serves both medical patients and adult-use consumers. Its in-house brands span multiple price points and product categories, allowing the company to capture a broad share of the California market. Through a combination of retail sales and wholesale distribution, Harborside maintains strong brand visibility and sustained consumer demand across the state.

  • Brands & SKUs: Harborside manages multiple in-house brands (including Sublime, Key, Harborside and Loudpack) spanning dried flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, edibles and other infused products.

  • Customer reach: Serves a large and diverse customer base — historically reported at over 250,000 registered customers — through retail locations and wholesale partnerships.

  • Market position: Recognized as an influential California operator with strong brand recognition and a broad product mix that targets both medical patients and adult-use consumers.

  • Distribution: Products distributed through Harborside’s retail network and to third-party dispensaries across California (and select out-of-state channels where licensed).

What Cannabis Clients Say About Catalyst BC

Farm Renovation & Greenhouse Retrofit: Harborside Farms

A core component of the project involved restoring and upgrading the farm’s greenhouse infrastructure to support commercial cannabis cultivation. This work included:

  • Renovation and remediation of an inactive agricultural property
  • Retrofit of four acres of existing greenhouse infrastructure for cannabis production
  • Infrastructure upgrades to support environmental control, irrigation, and lighting systems
  • Cultivation layout planning and workflow development across multiple greenhouse zones

These improvements transformed aging greenhouse assets into a productive cultivation environment capable of supporting commercial-scale production.

Infrastructure & Power Upgrades

To support the energy demands of year-round cannabis cultivation, Catalyst BC also helped coordinate major electrical infrastructure improvements across the property. This included:

These upgrades were critical to enabling reliable year-round cultivation.

Venlo Greenhouse Development

In addition to renovating existing greenhouse infrastructure, Catalyst BC also supported the development of a new one-acre Venlo glass greenhouse designed for high-performance cultivation. Our role included:

This new greenhouse became a key component of the farm’s production capacity.

Operational Launch & Fractional Leadership

Beyond infrastructure development, Catalyst BC provided hands-on operational leadership during the launch of the farm’s cultivation program.

This included fractional leadership roles across several operational functions:

  • Fractional Director of Operations support
  • Fractional Wholesale Manager support
  • Fractional Inventory and Compliance Manager support

Our team helped build the operational structure necessary to move the facility from construction into licensed production.

SOP Development, Training & Operational Systems

Catalyst BC also developed the operational frameworks required to run a regulated cannabis cultivation facility. This included:

  • Development of cultivation and post-harvest SOPs
  • Staff training and operational onboarding for cultivation teams
  • Inventory tracking and compliance system implementation
  • Post-harvest workflow development to support trimming, drying, and product preparation

These systems provided the operational backbone required to support compliant and scalable production.

End Result

Through the renovation of aging infrastructure, construction of new production assets, and development of operational systems, Harborside Farms successfully transitioned from an inactive agricultural property to a fully licensed and operational cannabis cultivation and post-harvest facility. Catalyst BC’s involvement spanned from early planning and infrastructure development through active cultivation operations, helping establish the foundation for one of the largest cannabis cultivation properties in California at the time.

The Catalyst BC Difference

Catalyst BC helped transform Harborside Farms, a 47-acre agricultural property in Salinas, California, from an inactive farm into a licensed cannabis cultivation and post-harvest operation. The property included five acres of aging greenhouse infrastructure that required extensive renovation and remediation.

We led the retrofit of four acres of greenhouse space, supported the construction of a new one-acre Venlo glass greenhouse, and helped coordinate a 4,000-amp three-phase power upgrade required for commercial cultivation. In addition to infrastructure development, Catalyst BC provided fractional operational leadership, SOP development, compliance support, and team training to help bring the facility from pre-Day 0 planning to licensed production.
